My name is Susan, and I began my SHAPE Program journey with Dr. Megan in May 2016. My sister-in-law had been doing the SHAPE Program for several months and seemed to be getting along quite well. After talking with her and checking out the SHAPE website, I decided that the SHAPE Program was likely the best option for me, and I made my initial appointment.

While I did not have any major health concerns and was not on any medications at the time, I was well aware at how much my weight had been creeping up, not to mention my blood pressure, which was on the rise. I have a family history of heart issues, as my father had a heart attack in his early 60s and my mother had multiple bypasses. I knew that I did not want to end up like them and wanted to be as healthy as possible for my grandchildren.

I started my journey weighing 199 pounds. My job is very stressful, and I seemed to have let stress dictate my life and my food choices. I felt tired most of the time, both of my knees hurt, and I just didn’t have much get-up-and-go. The SHAPE Program was structured (which I liked and needed), and I received great support from my practitioner. She always knew just what I needed to keep things moving in the right direction. I loved the lists of what to eat because I didn’t have to read tons of labels, or count points or calories. Instead, I eat the amounts of food that the book said to. It’s that simple.

I had my Phase III maintenance appointment just a few days ago, and I maintained my weight of 131 pounds throughout Phase II. I was nervous to add foods back in, but I did add some things in, still felt great and maintained my weight. Overall, I am down 68 pounds and 65.25 inches total. I can say that I am 63 years old and I feel like I’m 50! My knees no longer hurt, I am no longer short of breath, and I have energy to do all kinds of things, including jog with the dog when we go on walks. I absolutely love this program and everything I have learned about myself and how to eat. I look forward to continuing to eat clean and hope to continue to find new dishes for my family to eat, as well!
